Former Texas A&M left‑hander Justin Lamkin has been promoted to Double‑A after dominating High‑A, leading the Midwest League in several categories.

Another former Texas A&M standout is climbing the minor‑league ladder, continuing a trend that’s become familiar over the past year. This time it’s left‑handed pitcher Justin Lamkin, whose dominant finish to his Aggie career, capped by a shutdown performance against Georgia, has quickly translated to professional success. On Tuesday morning, the Kansas City Royals announced that Lamkin has been promoted to Double‑A Northwest Arkansas after an electric month in High‑A with the Quad Cities River Bandits.

It didn’t take long for the organization to make its move; after just six High‑A outings, the Royals saw enough to push their No. 13 prospect to the next level. Lamkin leaves the Midwest League as the league leader in multiple categories: ERA: 1.

After posting a 3. 42 ERA and 98 strikeouts in his final season at Texas A&M , he’s carried that momentum into pro ball, earning the Bandits’ Pitcher of the Month award in April with a 1. 54 ERA and 32 strikeouts across 23.
