Meet the field for the 2026 Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic
CAAC Blue champion Okemos and CAAC Red co-leaders Mason and Williamston are among the teams in the field.
Keagan Noble and the Okemos baseball team may have started the season with doubleheader splits with Jackson Lumen Christi and Novi. But the Wolves have picked things up since then. Okemos went unbeaten in the CAAC Blue while repeating as league champions and haven't lost to a team from Greater Lansing this spring.
That success has the Wolves (17-4-1) as among the top seeds for this year's Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic. The rest of the field features reigning champion Grand Ledge, DeWitt, Haslett, Lakewood, Lansing Catholic, Mason, Portland, reigning Division 4 state champion Portland St. Patrick and Williamston.
All games will once again take place at Michigan State's McLane Stadium. The tournament begins on Monday, May 18 with Haslett facing Portland at 5 p. m.
followed by DeWitt against Lakewood at 7 p. m. Haslett is part of the field for the first time since 2016 and Lakewood is competing in the event for the first time since 2017.
