Swayne, a Kings graduate, is a Maketewah member who received a sponsor's invitation to the LPGA's Kroger Queen City Championship.

Alexandra Swayne spent part of Monday, May 11, practicing with a tennis ball and confusing her dog. The Cincinnati native and Ladies European Tour player was preparing for a ceremonial first pitch at Great American Ball Park before the Cincinnati Reds host the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, May 12. It's a challenge she admitted feels far less natural than stepping onto the first tee at Maketewah Country Club this week for the LPGA's Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G.

As long as I get it to the plate, I'll be fine. " Throwing a baseball from a major league mound might put Swayne outside her comfort zone, but playing Maketewah does not. While much of the LPGA field is still learning the Donald Ross layout this week, Swayne arrives with a bevy of local knowledge and comfort on the course she calls home.

The Maketewah member received a sponsor's invite to the event and said she believes that familiarity could become a significant advantage as the tournament unfolds. "I know the subtle breaks. I know how to play certain holes.
