In a Zimbabwe domestic cricket match, Scorpions Cricket Club achieved an astonishing 822/4, powered by centuries from Winfed Mutende (203 off 75 balls) and Takunda Madembo (302). Methane Lions collapsed to 28/7, resulting in a record 794-run victory for Scorpions. This score dwarfs previous high totals in List A cricket.

NEW DELHI: It was nothing short of a run-fest in a cricket match that produced numbers almost impossible to believe. A staggering 822 runs were plundered by a single team - not the combined total of both sides. Yes, one team alone crossed the 800-run mark in what is being called one of the craziest matches in Zimbabwe domestic first-league cricket.

The match between Scorpions Cricket Club and Methane Lions turned into an absolute batting carnage as Scorpions Cricket Club posted a mammoth 822/4 in their allotted 50 overs. What made the result even more astonishing was the response from Methane Lions, who could only muster 28/7 in reply, handing Scorpions an unbelievable 794-run victory. After winning the toss, Scorpions captain Praise Makaza elected to bat first - a decision that turned into complete destruction for the opposition bowlers.

The star of the show was Winfed Mutende, who smashed a breathtaking 203 off just 75 balls at a strike rate of 270. 67. His knock included 23 fours and 13 sixes, turning the contest into a brutal exhibition of power-hitting.

If that was not enough, Takunda Madembo laid the foundation with an astonishing 302 from 143 deliveries, hammering 50 boundaries and seven sixes before retiring out after batting for 272 minutes. The carnage did not stop there. Gabriel Jaya remained unbeaten on 110 from only 49 balls, striking at 224.
