CBS Sports mocks Saints to land superstar Notre Dame CB in 2027 draft

Yahoo Sports

The New Orleans Saints got a major steal in this 2027 mock draft from CBS Sports. Here's when you can see Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore in 2026.

As the 2026 NFL Draft approached, the New Orleans Saints were rumored to be in on several positions of need, including wide receiver, cornerback, and pass rusher. General manager Mickey Loomis and the Saints' front office ultimately landed a target at one of those positions in Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, but would that have been different had the Kansas City Chiefs not traded up to pick No. 6 to select LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane?

Fast forward to early projections for the 2027 draft, and the Saints' cornerback need remains. They lost Alontae Taylor in free agency this past free agency and are set to roll out young defensive backs like Quincy Riley and Kool-Aid McKinstry in 2026. But what will they do to address that need in the coming year(s)?

The Saints landed Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore at pick No. 8 in CBS Sports' latest 2027 NFL mock draft , finding a standout defensive back who is widely considered a lockdown threat. Next year's draft class figures to be top-heavy with quarterbacks, and depending on how the Saints' season pans out, a chance at an elite defensive player like Moore isn't impossible.

"Leonard Moore is one of the best 2027 prospects, but is still available because of the depth in the class," CBS Sports' Josh Edwards wrote. "The Saints were thought to be interested in Mansoor Delane, and that is why Kansas City traded in front of them. A year later, New Orleans gets its cornerback in the first round.
