There have been rumors of the Boston Celtics trading Jaylen Brown to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but a third team may need to get involved.
That team could be the Atlanta Hawks. On Monday, NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that the Bucks are expected to ask Antetokounmpo whether he wants to commit to them and sign an extension, and Antetokounmpo "by all accounts" will say no. He also revealed that the Celtics tried to acquire Antetokounmpo before the trade deadline.
To get the two-time MVP, the Celtics would have to part with Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum's contract, and Brown is the overwhelming favorite to get dealt out of the two in this case. However, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer , the Bucks would be interested in moving Brown along for even more assets, meaning a third team would need to be involved. On Saturday, NBA insider Chris Mannix revealed that the Hawks tried to acquire Brown last offseason.
Now that they don't have Trae Young and have an even bigger need for Brown, they make sense to be the third team in a Celtics and Bucks trade centered around Antetokounmpo. The Bucks want assets, the Hawks need a pure scorer and the Celtics want Antetokounmpo. The Hawks have the No.
