May 12 (UPI) -- The New York Mets will promote premier prospect A. J. Ewing on Tuesday for the home opener of a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers.
Sources told The Athletic, MLB. com and ESPN about the decision Monday night. The Mets have yet to confirm it.
Ewing, 21, is the Mets' No. 2 prospect and ranks No. 78 among baseball's Top 100 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline .
Scouts have praised the 5-foot-10, 160-pound outfielder/second baseman for his speed on the base paths, ability to make contact and improved instincts at the plate.
