Boston's interim manager has this in spades.

Red Sox Insider Reveals Chad Tracy's Most Valuable Skill originally appeared on NESN . Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here . When Chad Tracy arrived from Worcester to replace Alex Cora in late April, the Boston Red Sox were a mess.

They were 10-17 and mired in one of the worst starts in franchise history , scuffling at the plate, in the field and on the mound. Tracy immediately steadied the ship , leading the Red Sox to back-to-back wins in his first two games in the dugout. They're no longer taking on water and have since stabilized, going 7-6 under his watch.

It's been an impressive start for Boston's interim manager, who had no prior Major League managing experience. While things were chaotic when he arrived, he's managed to quickly get the situation under control and settle the Red Sox down. "The all but unknown Tracy has brought calm to the chaos," veteran sportswriter Steve Buckley wrote for The Athletic on Monday (subscription required).

"So relaxed is Tracyโ€™s demeanor, so confident and clear are his answers to nonstop questions about the starting rotation, batting orders and the status of injured Sox stars Garrett Crochet and Roman Anthony, that youโ€™d think heโ€™s been running the big club for years. " Willson Contreras recently described a "looseness" in Boston's clubhouse under Tracy, and it's easy to see why. Teams often follow the lead of their manager, especially young ones like the Red Sox, so Tracy's calm and relaxed demeanor appears to be rubbing off on them.
