Spieth has been a PGA Championship victory away from joining one of the game’s most exclusive clubs for the best part of the decade now. He has not actually finished inside the top 10 at the event since 2019.

Spieth ended up missing the cut at Quail Hollow 12 months ago. His previous injury problems look to be well and truly behind him.

Spieth has registered five top 20 finishes on the PGA Tour this year. The only problem is that he is still awaiting his first top 10, having finished 11th on two occasions. With the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young playing so well right now, and Rory McIlroy likely to be a threat at every major he plays, it is probably no surprise that Dan Rapaport wrote off Spieth’s chances of a fourth major win this week.
