Texans add a new RB, sign breakout tryout star Evan Hull
A new running back has joined the crew for the Houston Texans entering 2026. According to the Texans' transaction account, the Texans signed running back Evan Hull after a successful minicamp workout last week. In a corresponding move, Houston released former seventh-round pick in Iowa tight end Luke Lachey.
Hull, a former standout at Northwestern, previously played with the Indianapolis Colts after being drafted in the fifth round. Since being drafted in 2023, Hull also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints , totaling 49 career yards on 12 carries and catching two passes for 12 yards. Lachey caught 28 passes for 231 yards in his final season for the Hawkeyes under Kirk Ferentz.
