Porto ready to offer a short-term contract to 18-goal Barcelona forward – report FC Barcelona are still waiting for Robert Lewandowski’s final response to the club’s offer of a one-year contract extension with a reduced salary. The Polish striker’s agent, Pini Zahavi, is currently in the Catalan capital as discussions continue and the player is weighing up the various proposals now on the table. Porto emerge as an option Now, though, according to reports in Portugal, as relayed by SPORT , FC Porto are prepared to offer Lewandowski a one-year contract to replace former Barcelona forward Luuk de Jong.

The Portuguese club have already begun working behind the scenes to convince the 37-year-old striker. Porto are hoping to unite Lewandowski with one of Poland’s brightest young talents, winger Oskar Pietuszewski, who is regarded as one of the country’s great hopes for the future. Lewandowski would effectively act as a mentor figure within the project.

Porto’s squad also already includes Polish internationals Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kiwior, both of whom are said to be encouraging the veteran to join the club and become the team’s undisputed first-choice striker for the season ahead. Financially, Porto’s proposal would reportedly be below some of the other offers available to him, but the project would offer him the chance to play alongside several compatriots while competing in the Champions League at the highest possible level. Clubs from Saudi Arabia have also made enquiries and continue pushing hard for his signature. The Pole still has doubts about a departure because both he and his family are extremely happy in Barcelona, and all signs suggest his close friend Wojciech Szczesny will remain at the club for at least another season. Lewandowski, who has 18 goals and four assists this term, also wants to speak directly with Hansi Flick to better understand what his future role in the team would be, as he still feels capable of fighting for a starting place.
