Ravens OL John Simpson explains why he returned to Baltimore

Yahoo Sports

John Simpson says returning to the Baltimore Ravens felt like 'coming home' due to the team's family-like culture.

The Ravens wanted to add toughness, familiarity, and leadership back to the offensive line this offseason, and bringing back John Simpson checked all three boxes. After spending the past two seasons with the Jets, Simpson says returning to Baltimore felt like the perfect fit because of the relationships and culture he experienced during his first stint with the organization. While appearing on The Lounge podcast with Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing, Simpson explained why the Ravens still felt like home to him during free agency.

“Being here for that one year kind of gave me that confidence that I needed. And beyond just the player, it’s deeper than that here. They kind of treat you like legit family and you walking in the hallway and they might be a janitor.

He knows your name. I know the janitor’s name. You know what I’m saying?

So it’s that type of relationship and everybody just treats you so well here and it’s just like why wouldn’t you want to be a part of something like this? ” That kind of praise says a lot about the environment Baltimore has built over the years. Players constantly talk about culture inside the building, but hearing veterans willingly come back after leaving always stands out.
