Keegan Brown opens up about his Kentucky Basketball role
Keegan Brown discusses his role at UK.
The Kentucky Basketball staff is trying to navigate the NIL era in the best way possible, having assembled a team of four minds to build the best roster possible. Mark Pope hired Keegan Brown, who’s a data analysis and roster construction expert, and the SoCal native took to social media to elaborate on his newly assigned role in Lexington: “It’s been a whirlwind in the month and a half I’ve been here, but super grateful to be working with Coach Pope and this team of incredible people,” Brown recently wrote on Twitter. “To give more insight into my role, the analytics is just the foundation for me.
Every day, I’m talking to agents, building models with Nick (Robinson), managing contracts start to finish, grinding film, and building the systems that power our front office. Blessed to be doing it at Kentucky. “ Brown was hired in late March, having spent a good chunk of time with Pope at BYU, and recently finished a role in the NBA G-League as a video coordinator for the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks’ affiliate.
There was a lot of speculation about whether Brown would be assigned the GM role, but the Brigham Young graduate will be doing much of the behind-the-scenes work as the Wildcats look for a big third season under Pope at the helm.
