Nebraska softball named big winner by USA TODAY Sports for postseason

The Nebraska softball team was named one of the big winners in the recently released 2026 NCAA softball tournament bracket. USA TODAY Sports compiled the list and believes NU is in a prime position to make a deep postseason run. The Huskers earned the fourth o verall seed for the 2026 NCAA tournament and will host a regional.

The Big Red will open the tournament against the South Dakota Coyotes (20-34-1) on Friday, May 15, at 5:30 p. m. CT.

Nebraska enters the tournament after defeating the UCLA Bruins to win the Big Ten Tournament. South Dakota downed Omaha to win the Summit League title. The other game in the Lincoln Regional has Louisville playing Grand Canyon at 3 p.
