Against one of the state’s premier programs, Sequoyah found itself playing from behind almost all day long. And against a team as talented as No. 3 Silo, that proved too much to overcome.
The No. 14 Eagles saw their season come to an end Thursday in the Class 3A super regionals as the Rebels swept the best-of-three series with 5-0 and 6-3 victories. Silo [31-6] used quick offensive bursts in both games to seize control early, while Sequoyah [20-18] struggled to generate enough timely offense to climb back into either contest.
In the opener, the Rebels broke a scoreless game open with a 3-run second inning. Aiden McCarty started the scoring with a sacrifice fly before Blane Beauchamp ripped an RBI double to center field. Moments later, Zane Sander followed with another RBI double to push Silo's lead to 3-0.
