Beckett Grand paces Bemidji in Detroit Lakes, Brainerd tournaments

May 11—DETROIT LAKES — Beckett Grand has everything working on the links right now. After a slow start to his sophomore season, the Bemidji High School boys golf team's lone state participant from a year ago has found a rhythm. He took 10th place individually at Detroit Lakes' loaded Northwest Classic, a two-day tournament.

After a slow start to his sophomore season, the Bemidji High School boys golf team's lone state participant from a year ago has found a rhythm. He took 10th place individually at Detroit Lakes' loaded Northwest Classic, a two-day tournament.

Grand finished with a combined score of 150 at 3-over par. BHS finished with a team total of 617, good for sixth place. It trailed first-place Holy Family Catholic by 26 strokes.

Grand also led Bemidji in Brainerd on Monday, shooting a 74 in 19th place to help the Lumberjacks finish seventh as a team with a total of 302. Drew Valley had the second-best score among the Jacks in Detroit Lakes at 153, good for 18th. Axel Burlingame took 25th place with a score of 156, while Jackson Fogelson finished 32nd (158).
