Nate Diaz to keep Mike Perry build real, unlike UFC's Chimaev-Strickland
Nate Diaz wants no part of creating a fake beef with Mike Perry to build buzz for Netflix's MMA event.
Fake beef isn't something Nate Diaz is interested in selling with Mike Perry. The pair of former UFC stars will meet inside the cage at MVP MMA 1, which goes down Saturday at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. The Netflix-broadcast event features familiar names, but one of the most interesting matchups is between Diaz and Perry.
Both used their names well in the combat sports space since exiting the UFC, with Diaz landing boxing matches against Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal, while Perry (who also boxed Paul) became BKFC's King of Violence in bareknuckle boxing. Both have a bad boy persona, but that doesn't mean there's any actual heat between them. At UFC 328, Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland built their middleweight title fight main event with all sorts of ugly pre-fight talk, which even included threats of gun violence.
Perry took notice and asked Diaz what it would take to get more people interested in their bout. "How are we gonna get 'em – did you watch Khamzat vs. Strickland last night?
" Perry asked Diaz on "MVP Face 2 Face. " "(I ask) because I was motivated by it. Khamzat and Strickland talked a lot of sh*t before the fight.
