Canadian pass rusher to play in CFL after Broncos rookie minicamp tryout

Yahoo Sports

After trying out at Broncos rookie minicamp, Canadian pass rusher Nuer Gatkuoth is set to play in the CFL.

The Denver Broncos hosted 60 players at rookie minicamp over the weekend, including 33 tryout rookies and four veteran tryout players . One of the rookie tryout players was Canadian edge defender Nuer Gatkuoth. Gatkuoth (6-3, 237 pounds) was picked fourth overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL draft before Denver's rookie minicamp.

After that minicamp, the Broncos signed two players — rookie cornerback Paul Manning and veteran wide receiver Mike Woods — but not Gatkuoth. So, Gatkuoth is now set to play in Canada in 2026, but he told the Denver Gazette 's Chris Tomasson that the Broncos said they will track him in the CFL and consider bringing him back in 2027 . Gatkuoth was born in Edmonton and played high school football in Alberta and Toronto before moving to Atlanta.

He spent the first three years of his college career at Colorado State before transferring to Wake Forest in 2025. Gatkuoth totaled 21 tackles, two sacks, one interception and one pass breakup last fall. If he stands out in the CFL, Gatkuoth might get another opportunity with the Broncos in 2027.
