The Atlanta Falcons entered rookie minicamp hoping to uncover a hidden gem, and offensive lineman Layden Robinson quickly emerged as one of the weekend’s biggest success stories.
After earning a tryout invitation, Robinson did enough to convince Atlanta he deserved another opportunity at the professional level. Robinson’s path back to the NFL has not been smooth. Selected by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the former Texas A&M standout was immediately thrown into difficult circumstances.
New England fielded one of the league’s worst offensive lines during the 2024 season, and Robinson was forced into action before he was fully ready. He appeared in 13 games and started 11 contests while seeing snaps at both left and right guard. The results were predictably uneven.
Robinson struggled with consistency in pass protection and run blocking, earning poor grades from Pro Football Focus throughout his rookie campaign. Still, the Patriots continued giving him opportunities because of his toughness and physical tools. Unfortunately, Robinson’s season never stabilized, and New England waived him with an injury designation before ultimately releasing him in August 2025.
Robinson has strong minicamp showing Robinson later joined the Las Vegas Raiders and spent portions of the 2025 season there while remaining with the organization into the 2026 offseason. However, the Raiders waived him on May 2, leaving the young lineman searching for another chance to extend his career. That opportunity came with Atlanta.
