VOTE for HSS Boys Track and Field Performer of Week for May 4-10

After another fun week of the high school boys track and field season, it's time to look back on the best performances. Read about the players who stood out last week and let us know who you think should be the HSS North Jersey Performer of the Week in the poll at the bottom of this page. Voting closes at 5 p.

m. Thursday. Brendan Alef, Demarest The junior continues his run as the best combination jumper in the state and with his triple win of 6-7 1/4 (high jump), 22-11 3/4 (long jump) and 47-7 3/4 (triple jump) in the B division, all overall meet bests with the best high jump in Bergen County in eight years.

Giorgio Bruttini, Ramsey The Rams came up short in their attempts to win Division C but the junior did all he could, winning the 110 and 400 hurdles, and taking second in the 200 and 400 meters, while setting a school record in the 110 hurdles. Devin DeCambre, Hackensack The senior won the A division with a personal best 1:54. 54 in the 800, took second in the 400 with another personal best, and ran key legs on the winning 4-x-400 and 4-x-800 relay teams.

Michael DeCarlo, Passaic Tech The junior continued his domination of Passaic County distance events that started in the fall with a cross-country title by winning the 1,600 and 3,200 titles at the county championships. He also ran a leg on Tech's winning 4-x-800 relay team. Jayden Gonzalez, Bogota The senior, who played quarterback for the Bucs has excelled in his only season of track, winning the D dividion 100 and 200 titles and taking second to potential state champ Brady Shine of Hasbrouck Heights in the javelin throw.

Justin Griffin, Passaic The senior, who is headed to Monmouth to play football and run track, won a record third straight Passaic County 100 championship and added his second straight 200 title. He also anchored Passaic to a win in the 4-x-100 relay, in a school record 43. 02 seconds.
