The Kent State men's basketball team has landed a former Ohio high school top-ranked recruit.

KENT — A former top-ranked Ohio high school recruit is returning home to play college basketball. Former Richmond Heights guard Dorian Jones is transferring to Kent State for the 2026-27 season. He comes to the Golden Flashes from Rutgers, where he redshirted this past year.

Jones helped lead Richmond Heights to three straight OHSAA state championships. He was voted Division IV Player of the Year in 2022-23 when he averaged 20. 1 points a game.

He also earned first team All Ohio honors in Division V as a junior and senior. "It's great to add Dorian to our roster," Kent State head coach Rob Senderoff said in a statement. "I have watched him play at Richmond Heights all throughout his high school career and know how much talent and ability Dorian has.

He is an excellent shooter, a high-level athlete with tremendous potential. He played for a state championship program with a great coach in Quenton Rogers. I am excited to get to work with Dorian and help him develop both on and off the court.
