The ejection changed the rhythm of the game, giving Minnesota a major opening as they went on to level the series with San Antonio. The incident also created a wider debate, with some arguing Wembanyama avoided the kind of extra punishment other players might have faced for similar contact.

Draymond Green gives blunt response after Victor Wembanyama elbow debate Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images Draymond Green quickly became part of that conversation because few NBA players understand disciplinary scrutiny like the Golden State Warriors forward. After a user shared the clip and asked how many games people would demand if Green had committed the same foul, he delivered a sharp reply. “You all have called for my career for less,” the 36-year-old wrote.

Green’s image as one of the league’s most combustible players is already established, and it was even used for comedy during his recent appearance on Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart. Tom Brady joked that Green was present “for now” and would probably be thrown out within 10 minutes, while Jeff Ross also referenced his violent reputation. That background made Green’s response feel pointed rather than random, especially as debate grew over whether Wembanyama benefits from more goodwill than others.

The league has now drawn its line. Shams Charania reported that Wembanyama will not receive any further discipline for the elbow on Reid. That means no suspension and no fine, leaving the Spurs star available for Game 5 against Minnesota in San Antonio tomorrow.
