Brandon Elliott, who has guided Virginia Wesleyan University’s softball team to unprecedented heights, on Monday was named Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at the school. Elliott, whose team is 45-0 and ranked No. 1 nationally, will also remain the school’s softball coach and take on athletic director duties.

Elliott has led VWU to three softball national championships — in 2017, 2018, 2021 — and the Marlins will play later this week in the program’s 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament. VWU (45-0) is the No. 1 seed in its four-team Division III regional and will host games Thursday through Saturday.

Elliott has coached the VWU softball team for 19 seasons, compiling a 716-158-2 record. Elliott has been Assistant Director of Athletics for Advancement. “Brandon Elliott represents the very best of Virginia Wesleyan University,” VWU president Scott D.

Miller said in a release. “His extraordinary record of success, commitment to student-athletes, and deep understanding of our institutional culture make him uniquely qualified to lead Marlin Athletics into the future. Brandon has built one of the premier softball programs in NCAA Division III history while demonstrating integrity, discipline, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

We are pleased to elevate him to this important leadership role. ” 40-0 and counting: Virginia Wesleyan softball team starts postseason with some big numbers Elliott takes over an athletic department with 25 intercollegiate sports.
