The 22-year-old will be up against the division’s leading scorer Khadija Shaw, as well as her Manchester City teammate Kerstin Casparij, while former Toffee loanee Jess Park is also in the running.
Kirsty Hanson, Olivia Holdt, Alyssa Thompson and Alessia Russo complete the field of eight nominees for the 2025/26 season, but Evertonians can play their part in ensuring that Mace claims this year’s crown. Joining the Blues in the summer of 2025, the England international – who made her debut for her country in December – has been a standout performer in what has been a difficult season for the Toffees, so far making 23 appearances in the heart of defence.
Injuries, changes of manager and playing style, as well as coping with the magnitude of the team’s maiden campaign at Gooddison Park, has led to a frustrating few months that leaves the Blues in eighth in the table with just two games to play. However Mace, who many feel will assume her preferred role in midfield with the return of club captain Megan Finnigan, has produced a number of eye-catching performances in the centre of the back four, forming a strong partnership with Martina Fernandez and showcasing her natural flair for ball distribution while always willing to role up her sleeves and do the dirty work when required. The former Arsenal graduate’s versatility has seen her earn a number of Player of the Match awards this season, and fingers crossed that a Player of the Season gong will be coming her way soon.
Good luck, Ruby.
