Kentucky transfer Franck Kepnang hears about his eligibility

The Kentucky Wildcats added center Franck Kepnang from the transfer portal, but he needed a waiver from the NCAA, and it has now been granted.

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team has been under intense scrutiny this offseason as Mark Pope gears up for a big season for himself, and the program. Last year's team was talented, but injuries and bad fits resulted in a disappointing year. So far, this offseason has been spent finding players who fit Pope's system, and building depth.

One of the recent additions was former Washington Huskies center Franck Kepnang to bolster a center position that is uncertain at this point in time due to Malachi Moreno going through the NBA draft process. Kepnang has dealt with injuries that ended multiple seasons, and needed a waiver to be eligible for next season, which would be his seventh. Per On3's Pete Nakos , the NCAA has granted the waiver, and he will be a part of the team.

When healthy, Kepnang is a difference maker on defense. Last season, he averaged 2. 1 blocks per game despite playing around 22 minutes.

He is also a good rebounder, though his offensive game is limited. Moreno's decision looms large for the Wildcats. If he returns, the center position is strong.
