The Denver Broncos held their rookie minicamp over the weekend. Here's what coach Sean Payton and players said after Saturday's practice.

The Denver Broncos held their rookie minicamp over the weekend, where media and fans got their first glimpse into the seven drafted rookies, as well as undrafted free agents and veteran tryout players. These tryouts have led to opportunities for players before, so it was an important opportunity. Throughout the weekend, fans also received great news regarding starting quarterback Bo Nix after his cleanup surgery from head coach Sean Payton.

Nix is doing well and on track to be full-speed ahead of training camp. Payton talked about the importance of this camp to the Broncos media on Saturday. "There are four things, five things we said [to the players]: ‘This is how you’re being evaluated,'" said Payton.

"A, does a player know what to do? B, is the player trying to do what’s being coached? C, how well are they doing it?

Then effort and talent. Obviously, you have to be talented, but that’s I think a big challenge for this whole group because they’re behind — always, every year — the group that’s already here. Now, we have a few players from our team that are out here, and it’s good having those guys.
