Stuttgart plan contract extension talks with Undav after the season
VfB Stuttgart board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth said that he expects to have concrete negotiation talks with key player Deniz Undav after the end of the season. Undav has a contract with the German Cup champions until June 2027 and both parties have showed interest in agreeing on a new deal. The forward is Stuttgart's top scorer in Bundesliga with 19 goals - only Bayern Munich Harry Kane has scored more goals in the league, with 33.
"At this stage of the season, our primary focus is naturally on team-related issues and goals," Wohlgemuth told dpa. "We have two games coming up that are of paramount importance for the entire club. " On Saturday, Stuttgart face Eintracht Frankfurt for a spot in the Champions League next season, and on May 23 they'll bid to defend their Cup title against Bayern.
"We're having a good dialogue with Deniz and his representatives. I expect that we'll be able to finalize the details on this matter, as well as on other individual issues, after our final game in Berlin," Wohlgemuth said. Undav himself said after the 3-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend that he's in "very good conversations" with the club.
"Of course, I know what I have here and what they have in me. We'll see what happens. "
