Chargers sign Pro Bowl tight end to 1-year contract
The Los Angeles Chargers bolstered their tight end room.
The Chargers have agreed to terms with tight end David Njoku on a one-year deal worth up to $8 million, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport . Njoku visited the Chargers earlier this month. Njoku, a former first-round pick by the Browns in 2017, spent nine seasons in Cleveland.
He departs as one of the Browns' all-time leading tight ends with 384 receptions for 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns, including a Pro Bowl nod in 2023. The move bolsters an already intriguing tight end room featuring rising star Oronde Gadsden II and recent addition Charlie Kolar. Under offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, Njoku's pass-catching prowess should provide Justin Herbert with another reliable weapon.
The short-term deal gives the Chargers flexibility while adding proven veteran production as they aim to contend this upcoming season. This article originally appeared on Chargers Wire: Chargers sign former Browns TE David Njoku to 1-year contract
