WEST MEAD TOWNSHIP — A tournament on Saturday will celebrate the grand opening of Crawford County’s latest disc golf course. The tournament, which is free and open to the public, takes place at the newly established Townline Fields Disc Golf Course, located within the previously unused wooded area of the Crawford County Youth Soccer Association (CCYSA) property, 12599 Townline Road. Participants should arrive early to register by 8:45 a.

m. with competition beginning at 9. Designed by Patrick Groover, the course’s first nine holes opened in late 2024.

The final nine holes were completed late last year, according to Groover, and the entire course takes about 90 to 120 minutes to complete. “It’s a lot of fun,” Groover said Friday. “It’s a really easy course to get through — something kids and adults can both play.

” Earlier this year, Conneaut Area Senior High Boy Scout Charlie Dickey completed and installed a custom-built disc golf kiosk sign at the course as part of his Eagle Scout service project. The kiosk serves as a central hub for players, offering course information, maps and guidelines to help both beginners and experienced disc golfers navigate the layout, according to Groover. The tournament will feature three divisions to accommodate players of all ages and skill levels.

In addition to the competition, participants and spectators can participate in a raffle, and donations will be accepted to support ongoing course maintenance as well as the upcoming CCYSA soccer season, which kicks off on June 15.
