Njoku’s best season was in 2023 when he earned his first Pro Bowl selection, catching a career-high 81 passes for 882 yards and six touchdowns.
He finished his career with Cleveland ranking second in franchise history in touchdown catches (34) and receptions (384) for a tight end. Njoku, who will turn 30 in July, visited the Chargers a week ago on May 4. He was one of the top veteran free agents on the market and also visited Baltimore Ravens in April, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Injuries have been an issue for Njoku over the last two seasons, causing him to miss 11 games across the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He also caught just 33 passes for 293 yards last season, which were his lowest statistics since the 2020 season. Adding Njoku to a Chargers’ tight end room that already includes Oronde Gadsen and Charlie Kolar will give quarterback Justin Herbert another target option.
