Penn State hockey signs 2025 draft pick Marco Mignosa, a high-scoring OHL forward, to replace departing talent.

Penn State hockey have certainly lost a lot of talent over the past few weeks, whether it be through the transfer portal or two the draft. In fact, most of their forward line is expected to be drafted this year. Still, when one looks at the recruiting class, there are ample replacements, including the newest signing, who himself was a draft pick in 2025.

Marco Mignosa commited to the Penn State men's hockey team on May 8, and becomes the latest move to help the Nittany Lions rejigger their forward group. The majority of his career was spent in Ontario, playing in the OHL with the Soo Greyhounds. In just 65 games, he logged 85 points last season, with 35 goals and 64 assists.

With forwards such as Charlie Cerrato and Aiden Fink departing the squad along with presumptive No. 1 pick Gavin McKenna, Mignosa will hopefully lead a new generation of talent. He joins a freshman class already loaded with depth from top to bottom, with players such as Pierce Mbuyi and Shea Busch, as well as defenseman Ethan Weber and goalie Ryder Fetterolf.

While one of Penn State's best offensive cores may no longer rule the roost in Happy Valley, Penn State hopes that Mignosa can lead a new era of Penn State hockey that is just prolific. This article originally appeared on Nittany Lions Wire: Penn State hockey lands former 2025 NHL draft pick
