Georgia clinches No. 1 in updated SEC baseball standings
Updated SEC baseball standings and the Georgia Bulldogs swept the LSU Tigers to clinch an SEC regular season title
The SEC has crowned a new baseball regular season champion. The Georgia Bulldogs ' win over the LSU Tigers on Saturday clinched Georgia an SEC championship and the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament.
Georgia along with three other SEC teams will have coveted double byes in the SEC Tournament. After Georgia, Texas and Texas A&M have a half-game lead over Auburn and Alabama, who are all battling for a top-four spot in the conference. Mississippi State, Florida and Arkansas are all 1 1/2-games back from Texas and Texas A&M, so they aren't totally out of contention for a top-four seed either.
Over the weekend, Tennessee earned a big 2-1 home series win over Texas. Alabama swept South Carolina on the road to boost their SEC Tournament path. Missouri got a rare SEC series win over Vanderbilt.
Arkansas won two games at home over Oklahoma, but Oklahoma avoided the sweep with a 15-10 win in Game 3. Texas A&M salvaged a game in their road series at Ole Miss , but along with Texas, they miss out on their chance to win the SEC. Auburn earned a big road series win at Mississippi State with a convincing 13-2 win on Saturday.
