Here are the Ames Tribune female Athlete of the Week candidates for the week of May 3-9.
The week of May 3-9 was another banner week for female high school athletes from the Ames area. It was a full week of conference track and field meets featuring Ames-area schools. The Ames girls track and field team competed at the Iowa Alliance Conference meet, the Ballard and Gilbert girls at the Raccoon River Conference meet, the Collins-Maxwell and Colo-NESCO girls at the Iowa Star Conference meet and the Nevada and Roland-Story girls at the Heart of Iowa Conference meet.
There were also several thrilling girls golf meets and soccer games involving teams from the Ames area. Here are the Ames Tribune female Athlete of the Week nominees for the week of May 3-9. AmesTrib.

Sophia Hatcher, Ames Hatcher was dominant in helping Ames win the Iowa Alliance Conference girls track meet on May 5 at Marshalltown. Hatcher won the long jump and 100-meter hurdle races, and she placed second in the open 200 for the Little Cyclones.
Hatcher jumped 16 feet, 9. 5 inches in the long jump, she broke 15 seconds in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14. 99 and she clocked in at 25.
