NFL analyst: Giants QB Jaxson Dart's rookie season was 'unspectacular'

In an NFL Roster Projection Model, one NFL analyst suggests the New York Giants' future at QB is "uncertain," calling Jaxson Dart "unspectacular."

In Austin Mock’s NFL Projection Model for The Athletic , the New York Giants finished 26th out of 32 teams in post-draft roster rankings, projecting an expected margin of victory of -2. 5 points against a league-average opponent. Mock’s model assesses individual player impact using advanced metrics to determine how much better or worse each contributor is than a replacement-level performer against an average NFL opponent.

These values are then summed across the roster to produce a team projection expressed in points. The Giants feature promising young talent at key positions, most notably wide receiver Malik Nabers and edge rusher Abdul Carter, both of whom have impressed early in their careers. Yet Mock believes the roster still contains numerous holes that keep the team near the bottom of the league rankings.

On quarterback Jaxson Dart specifically, Mock noted the uncertainty surrounding the position following the rookie’s 2025 performance, calling it "unspectacular. " The Giants have a few promising pieces, mainly Malik Nabers and Abdul Carter. They're both young, play crucial positions and have impressed early in their careers.

There are plenty of holes on this roster, however, and the future at quarterback is unclear after Jaxson Dart's unspectacular rookie season. The Giants' main problems are on defense, where their interior D-line ranks as the league's worst, and their cornerbacks room is 30th. Meanwhile, the Giants arguably got weaker along the defensive line after trading Dexter Lawrence despite the additions of D.
