NFL schedule release: 3 hardest matchups of Steelers’ 2026 season

Yahoo Sports

Here is a look at three of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ most difficult matchups in 2026 ahead of the official NFL schedule release.

The NFL schedule release is just around the corner, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have plenty of difficult matchups worth keeping a close eye on. After all, steel sharpens steel. From a matchup against a fierce AFC North rival to road games against a pair of division leaders, here’s a look at three of the toughest games the Steelers have in store for the 2026 season.

Baltimore Ravens Gone are the days of Mike Tomlin facing off against John Harbaugh in AFC North classics, as both the Steelers and Ravens will enter 2026 with new head coaches. The Steelers may have gotten the better of the Ravens over the past several years, but let’s not pretend Pittsburgh wasn’t one Tyler Loop missed field goal away from a Baltimore victory in Week 18. Baltimore will no doubt be looking to dish out some revenge this upcoming season.

Philadelphia Eagles Over the past several years, the Eagles have finally given Philadelphia sports fans meaningful football to watch again, which is actually bad news for Pittsburgh in 2026. The Steelers will travel to Philly this upcoming season to take on a potential NFC Super Bowl contender — a tough ask by any measure. New England Patriots Last season, the Steelers may have managed to scrape out a 21-14 win over the Patriots — also known as the 2025 AFC champions — but the four forced fumbles all but gift-wrapped that victory to Pittsburgh.

Tasked with facing off against the Patriots in Foxborough, the new-look Steelers will definitely have their hands full.
