Top of Michigan Festival of Races returns to Petoskey May 23

The Top of Michigan Festival of Races is returning to Petoskey in May, bringing together runners and walkers for a day of competition and community. The event, presented by 4Front Credit Union, is set for May 23 at Bayfront Park. Participants can choose from a half marathon, 5K or 10K, with courses winding along the Little Traverse Wheelway and through Petoskey State Park, according to a community announcement.

Race director Becca Nelson said the event has become a staple in the area, drawing nearly 500 participants last year. "People love to walk and run along the shores of Lake Michigan, and what better place to do it than on one of the most beautiful and popular recreational trails in the Midwest? " Nelson said in the announcement.

Proceeds from the races will benefit the Top of Michigan Trails Council and the Petoskey High School track and cross country teams. While same-day registration will be available, participants are encouraged to sign up in advance. The deadline to receive a t-shirt with registration is May 12.
