Could FC Bayern be a preferred destination for Read?

SITTARD, NETHERLANDS - MAY 3: Givairo Read of Feyenoord Rotterdam celebrates with teammates after scoring his teams second during the Dutch Eredivisie match between Fortuna Sittard and Feyenoord Rotterdam at Fortuna Sittard Stadion on May 3, 2026 in Sittard, Netherlands. It’s already been made official that the German Rekordmeister will be saying goodbye to both Leon Goretzka and Raphaël Guerreiro after this season, and there could still be other players that wind up getting sold in efforts to bring in funds to reinvest in the transfer market.

Not to mention, Bayern also sold Sacha Boey back to Galatasaray in the winter transfer window, losing another defender in a season where there have been key injury spells for Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, Josip Stanišić, and shorter injury spells for both Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae. Feyenoord youngster Givairo Read has been on Bayern’s radar for quite some time now, but there has not been much progress beyond their interest because the Dutch club don’t really want to let their right back go for anything less than €30 million. For Bayern, they do not want to spend €30 million or over and Feyenoord will be well aware of the fact that there’s other interested clubs in Europe that might be willing to pay a higher fee with a player that has great potential and who’s current contract runs through June 2029.

After Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie over the weekend, Read spoke about his future now that there’s only one league match remaining in the Dutch top flight. He’s well aware he could be leaving this summer, but he doesn’t yet know exactly what will happen. “It is no longer a secret that clubs are watching me and that a move might be coming up in the summer.

I don’t want to keep that a secret either. But I haven’t made a choice yet, so I’m still under contract with Feyenoord. It could very well have been my last home match, but I don’t want to say that too soon,” the defender told ESPN NL (via @iMiaSanMia ).
