There was a chance the Texas Longhorns softball team would get the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA postseason tournament, which starts on Friday, May 15. But when the field was announced on Selection Sunday , the Horns got the No.
2 national seed. Texas will start its national title defense by hosting a regional in Austin, featuring Wisconsin, Baylor and Wagner. Texas won the SEC postseason tournament with a resounding 6-1 win over Alabama .
But in the end, the selection committee favored the Crimson Tide for the top overall seed. The SEC has six of the eight national seeds. Oklahoma is the No.
3 seed, Arkansas is No. 5 and Florida is No. 7.
