Scoring Plays Top 1st, 1-0 PIT: Nick Gonzales singled home Oneil Cruz against Tyler Mahle to get the Pirates (22-19) on the board early. Top 2nd.

2-0 PIT: Konnor Griffin hit a laser over the center field fence for his third home run of the year. The 413-foot blast left his bat at 110. 2 mph.

Bottom 3rd, 2-1 PIT: Luis Arraez got the Giants (16-24) on the board with an RBI single off Bubba Chandler Bottom 4th, 2-2: The Giants evened the score when Heliot Ramos hammered a solo shot to left-center off Chandler. Top 5th, 3-2 PIT: The Pirates quickly reclaimed the lead on Oneil Cruz’s opposite-field home run off Mahle. Cruz’s solo homer was his 10th of the season.

Top 6th, 4-2 PIT: Spencer Horwitz delivered a two-out RBI double to left-center, which knocked Mahle out of the game. Bottom 6th, 4-4: Isaac Mattson relieved Chandler and allowed a pair of runs to score. Rafael Devers and Heliot Ramos hit back-to-back doubles to bring the Giants within one.
