It’s Stetson vs. Florida State to open the 2026 NCAA softball tournament bracket. Here’s what to know about the first-round game in Tallahassee.

On May 9, Stetson guaranteed its first NCAA softball tournament appearance since 2014 by winning the ASUN championship . On May 10, it learned its first-round opponent and destination. The Hatters are headed to Tallahassee, as announced during the NCAA's selection show.

They will compete in the same Regional as Florida State , UCF and Jacksonville State. Stetson will face the Seminoles in the first game of the double-elimination event at noon on May 15. The contest will air on ESPNU.

As the second seed in the ASUN, the Hatters (36-20) blazed through the bracket in three games last week. They handled No. 7 North Florida 4-2 on May 7 before beating top-seeded Central Arkansas on back-to-back days — 8-2 on May 8 and 4-0 on May 9.

Their title was the sixth in program history. Stetson had finished the regular season two games in front of the Sugar Bears in the conference standings, but Central Arkansas secured the league's top seed via its RPI ranking.
