Texas softball draws No. 2 overall seed in NCAA Tournament, will open vs Wagner Friday

As one of the top eight seeds in the NCAA softball tournament, the Texas Longhorns won't have to leave Austin until a possible third straight trip to the Women's College World Series

Texas softball will enter next weekendโ€™s NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 overall seed, which means the Longhorns wonโ€™t have to leave Austin until a possible third consecutive trip to the Womenโ€™s College World Series, which begins May 28 in Oklahoma City. Texas won its first national title last season by beating Texas Tech in the championship series.

The No. 10 Longhorns (42-10), which won the SEC Tournament championship Saturday by beating Alabama 7-1 , will host Wagner, Baylor and Wisconsin in the Austin Regional this weekend at McCombs Field. If Texas advances as expected from the double-elimination regional round, the Longhorns will serve as hosts of an Austin Super Regional series the weekend of May 21-24.
