Broncos Super Bowl 50 champion releases statement after being cut by Packers

•Yahoo Sports

Brandon McManus, who won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos, was cut by the Packers on Friday. He released this statement following the news.

The Green Bay Packers released veteran kicker Brandon McManus on Friday, a move that was designated as a post-June 1 release to create more salary cap space. McManus, 34, played for the Broncos from 2014-2022. He was a perfect 10-of-10 on field goal attempts during the 2015 playoffs, helping Denver win Super Bowl 50.

His 223 field goals with the Broncos rank second in franchise history, only trailing two-time Super Bowl champion Jason Elam (395). McManus has spent time with three other clubs following his stint in Denver. Green Bay used a sixth-round pick to select Trey Smack in last month's NFL draft.

Smack now appears poised to replace McManus as the Packers ' new kicker going into the 2026 season. McManus released this statement on social media after being cut by Green Bay: pic. twitter.
