He likely caught the eye of Broncos’ scouts during the Senior Bowl back in February.
Denver is known for picking up undrafted players they scouted in person at that annual event. Player Profile Luke Basso | Long Snapper | Denver Broncos Height: 6-3 Weight: 246 pounds Experience: 1st NFL season Age: 22 years old At Oregon, Basso was the team’s primary long snapper in 39 total games and was a two-time First-team All-Big Ten selection. He has ample experience heading into the NFL.
He was ranked the #3 long snapper in the country coming out of high school. Luke Basso’s 2026 Outlook with the Broncos At first glance, it seems like Basso will unlikely replace veteran long snapper Mitchell Fraboni this season. However, you never know and Denver certainly committed a bit to signing Basso to the roster last week.
Source says long snapper Luke Basso, an undrafted free agent from Oregon, has signed his deal with the #Broncos . He gets a $7,500 signing bonus as well as a $20,000 contract guarantee for a total guarantee of $27,500 — Chris Tomasson (@christomasson) May 8, 2026 The position is one of those that you don’t really think about until something bad happens. Final Thoughts With Fraboni heading into the second year of a three-year contract and with him turning 30 this season, the team may be looking ahead to the future with the addition of Basso.
If so, he could end up on their practice squad for this season and likely be ready to take over full-time long snapper duties as early as the 2027 season depending on what the team does with Fraboni. Outside that, there isn’t much to debate. Fraboni is the guy until he isn’t and Basso is an undrafted rookie unlikely to make the final 53 man roster until he does.
