Emmanuel Karnley has a personality that makes him a great fit for Washington's secondary under Ryan Walters and John Richardson.

The Washington Huskies needed to add a starting-caliber cornerback in the transfer portal over the offseason and found one in Emmanuel Karnley. Although the 6-foot, 189-pound Virginia transfer, who started his career at Arizona under Jedd Fisch and secondary coach John Richardson, and made a quick stop at Miami for spring practice before spending the 2025 season with the Cavaliers, was in and out of the lineup during spring practice with an injury, he showed all the signs of a reliable outside corner who can hang with the opposition's top target. Due to his injury, Karnley didn't get a chance to speak with the media during spring practice, but the Big Ten Network caught up with him after the spring game.

"I'd say energy finder. I bring a lot of energy when it comes to my room and my team. " Along with his long arms and ability to play press-man coverage on the outside that he displayed throughout the spring, he also brings the mentality that Richardson and defensive coordinator Ryan Walters are looking for in the secondary.

"I'm loving, I'm devoted, I'm loyal, and I'm ready to work with the team and win a national championship," he added. This article originally appeared on Huskies Wire: Emmanuel Karnley is a perfect fit for Washington Huskies DB room
