Former Warren Central standout player, assistant DeAndre Brock tabbed to lead Warriors' basketball program

DeAndre Brock is coming home. Brock, a former standout player and assistant at Warren Central, is the new boys basketball coach for the Warriors. Brock had applied for the job when it opened previously but said this was the right time.

โ€œGodโ€™s timing is always right,โ€ Brock said. โ€œI am honored to be able to come home to give to a community that had so much to do with molding me as a player, a man and as a coach. Thanks to the whole Far Eastside community and I look forward to getting back to where we were.

Itโ€™s time to get back to work. โ€ Brock was the athletic director at Phalen Academy for the past five years. He has one year of experience as a head coaching, leading Howe to a 13-11 record in 2019-20 in the final year before the high school closed.

Previously, Brock coached on the staffs of both Greg Graham and Criss Beyers at Warren Central for eight seasons. He was part of the coaching staff for the 2017-18 team that went undefeated and won a Class 4A state championship. Brock, 39, wanted the Warren Central job in 2019 after Criss Beyers stepped down, but Kristof Kendrick and then Garrett Winegar were hired instead.
