Is Jets WR Arian Smith entering a crucial sophomore season?
What the 2026 NFL season could mean for Jets WR Arian Smith...
The New York Jets entered last year's 2025 NFL Draft looking for a wide receiver to play opposite Garrett Wilson. The team drafted Arian Smith in the fourth round despite him being a raw product coming out of Georgia. After a difficult rookie season, Smith returns to a new-looking position room that places pressure on his development.
Smith recorded just seven receptions for 52 receiving yards as a rookie. The Jets attempted to get creative by offering him manufactured touches around the line of scrimmage. Making things easy for him is partially why Smith averaged just 7.
4 yards per catch. The state of head coach Aaron Glenn's wide receiver room has changed drastically since the Jets drafted Smith. They traded for Adonai Mitchell midseason, who might enter training camp as the WR2.
The Jets also just traded up to select former Indiana wideout Omar Cooper Jr. with the 30th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Smith is WR4 at best.
