The Washington Huskies couldn't get anything going at the plate in a 4-0 loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon, dropping the series in State College, Pennsylvania. Coach Eddie Smith's lineup notched just 4 hits on the day, three of which came against starter Isaiah Shayter, who came into the day with a 10. 66 ERA.

The right-hander worked 5 scoreless innings and let up just three singles and 2 walks with 5 strikeouts to improve to 2-9 on the year. For the Nittany Lions, catcher Avery Smith was a thorn in the side of Washington's pitching staff throughout the day. He went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, while right fielder Jesse Jancoski went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo homer, and 3 runs scored.

Hayden Lewis took the loss for Washington and dropped to 6-5 on the year after letting up 4 runs on 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout over 5 1/3 innings. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 22-29 on the year and 11-16 in Big Ten play.
