IPL 2026: GT star spinner Rashid Khan breaks into top 10, surpasses Lasith Malinga
Rashid Khan achieved a significant IPL milestone, entering the top 10 wicket-takers with figures of 4/33 against Rajasthan Royals. His stellar performance, earning him Player of the Match, saw him surpass Lasith Malinga on the all-time list. Gujarat Titans secured an emphatic 77-run victory.
Rashid Khan added another major milestone to his glittering IPL career after moving into the top 10 wicket-takers in tournament history during Gujarat Titans’ emphatic win over Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The Afghan spinner delivered a match-winning performance, finishing with superb figures of 4/33 in his four overs as GT crushed RR by 77 runs. Rashid’s spell not only earned him the Player of the Match award but also helped him surpass legendary Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga on the all-time IPL wickets list.
Rashid now has 173 wickets in 147 IPL matches at an impressive average of 23. 72, including three four-wicket hauls and best figures of 4/24. Malinga had finished his IPL career with 170 wickets.
The GT spinner is also enjoying another excellent season, currently sitting joint fourth in the Purple Cap race with 15 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 22. 60 and an economy rate of 8. 26.
