Falcons move former Georgia RB Cash Jones to wide receiver

The Atlanta Falcons haven't shied away from bringing in Georgia players over the last few offseasons, and that was the case again in 2026. The team selected former Bulldogs wide receiver Zachariah Branch in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, then signed former Georgia running back Cash Jones as an undrafted free agent. While Branch is a lock for the roster as a Day 2 selection, Jones will need to impress Atlanta's coaching staff to have a chance at making the team.

The Falcons have arguably the NFL's best running back in Bijan Robinson, and a solid backup in Brian Robinson Jr. Jones, a pass-catching specialist, has never put up eye-popping numbers but is a versatile weapon with a ton of experience at one of the NCAA's premier programs. That versatility may in fact help Jones make the roster.

According to Branch, the Falcons have been giving his former Georgia teammate a look at the wide receiver position during this weekend's rookie minicamp. "Zachariah Branch says the Falcons have transitioned his Georgia teammate Cash Jones to wide receiver," ESPN's Marc Raimondi wrote on social media. "Jones was working with the WRs in drills today at rookie minicamp.

" Obviously, we can't read too much into this switch since it's just Day 2 of rookie minicamp, but Jones has done most of his damage as a pass-catcher. He was never going to make an impact on the ground, but if he can show value as a third-down back, his chances of making the team go up exponentially.
