Following Saturday's rookie minicamp practice, Liam Coen evaluated the play of the Jaguars' UDFA addition at quarterback.

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn't draft a quarterback, but the team did sign Tennessee's Joey Aguilar as an undrafted free agent. With rookie minicamp taking place this weekend, head coach Liam Coen got his first up-close look at Aguilar. "I think Joey did a nice job of learning a lot of information in a short period of time, especially so much different than he's used to," said Coen.

"Just from a cadence standpoint, that's something that he's had to get used to doing over the last 48 hours. " Aguilar made the jump in 2025, transferring from Appalachian State to playing in the SEC at Tennessee. And with that, his efficiency increased significantly, with Aguilar's completion percentage improving by nearly 12% from 2024.

Along with completing more passes, Aguilar also generated more big plays, averaging 8. 8 yards per pass attempt in 2025 compared to 7. 7 yards per attempt the year prior, according to PFF .

With Tennessee, Aguilar would throw 24 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, totaling 3,571 passing yards. "I think he did a nice job of running the show, if you will," added Coen. "Handling, I mean, these weren't all just calling and running plays either.
